Patna. Preparations to improve internet connectivity in rural areas of Bihar have intensified. Under the Centre's revised BharatNet scheme, instead of limiting internet facility only to Panchayat buildings, emphasis is being laid on extending internet facility to village government institutions and common families.

Under this scheme, preparations are being made to expand the network in the state and provide fiber connections to homes. For this, necessary changes are being made in the earlier agreement between the Central and State Governments. The Department of Information and Technology has started work in this direction and the process of network expansion is expected to start by the end of the year.

Internet will work even if the network is damaged

In the new model of BharatNet, the focus will be on making the internet service more strong and reliable. A target has been set to maintain about 99 percent uptime of the network. For this, technology like ring topology will be used. Its advantage will be that if there is a fault in any part of the network, connectivity can be continued through another route.

Will connect from school to health center

There is a plan to connect schools, police stations, Anganwadis, post offices, health centres, cooperative institutions and agricultural science centers through fiber network at the Gram Panchayat level. This will also improve the operation of online services in government institutions.

Fiber internet will reach every home

An important part of the plan is Fiber to the Home (FTTH). Through this, efforts will be made to provide fast internet to individual homes. Rural people can get direct benefit from it in online education, government services, health facilities, digital payments and other important online works. Overall, the new format of BharatNet is expected to give a new impetus to digital connectivity in the villages of Bihar.
