drinking hot tea and coffee

Many people are fond of drinking hot tea. As soon as you put it in the cup, immediately blow it and start drinking tea or coffee. If you also have this habit, then you should be careful. Recently a new study has revealed some shocking information.

Research findings

According to this study, consumption of excessively hot beverages may increase the risk of esophageal cancer.

expert opinion

Health experts say that frequent consumption of tea or coffee with a temperature of 65°C or more can increase the risk of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (a type of food-pipe cancer).

This 14-year study of almost one million adults in the UK found that people who like to drink their beverages very hot are at higher risk.

– Repeated exposure to extremely hot liquids can cause thermal damage to the lining of the esophagus, increasing the risk of cancer over time.

– This danger is not due to the drink, but due to its temperature.

– Most importantly, the risk of this cancer is still low in most people and the study found no such association with esophageal adenocarcinoma.

-For people who regularly consume very hot beverages, drinking 6 or more cups may increase the risk.

Consuming tea and coffee safely

-Health experts suggest letting tea or coffee cool for a few minutes before drinking them.

– If you feel very hot on the lips or tongue, the temperature may exceed the safe limit.

– Always drink tea, coffee or any hot beverage only after lukewarm.
