The 28-year-old Ishan Kishan led East Zone to the Duleep Trophy title after the game against South Zone ended in a draw. BCCI posted a video at the end of the game where Ishan was seen having a conversation with young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshiwho was also the vice-captain of the team.

The 15-year-old had grabbed headlines for urging his skipper to take a DRS after Ricky Bhui was given not out. In the end, the batter was given out after the decision was reversed as Mukesh Kumar got his first wicket.

The video showed Ishan entering and asking, “What’s happening? Tell me also.” He put his arms around the youngster’s shoulder and asked, “So, having fun? He took all the credit for the review call. Even though I was going to take the review, he used to stand next to me and would be all over the internet.”

“My Goodness! Vaibhav is the one, and he fulfilled that role very well.” Sooryavanshi didn’t hold back and playfully asked his skipper, “Also tell them, who was taking the review calls when you were not there on the field?” To which Sunrisers Hyderabad star said, “Yes, that was Vaibhav himself. Future captain, maybe? Let’s see how it goes.”

Speaking about the youngster, India’s wicketkeeper and batter said, “It is very good to have him in the team, because more than a good player, he is a very nice boy who takes care of everyone in the team. And that’s the one quality which is amazing in him, and hopefully he will be more dangerous than what he is today. I don’t think it’s his last game. He is going to play many more such games like this if he keeps performing the way he is doing right now.”

Sooryavanshi praises Ishan for his knock

The left-handed batting sensation played a key role with the bat in East Zone’s triumph, scoring 92 in the first innings versus Central Zone. In his chat with BCCI, the youngster said, “It was fun playing with him. We had fun both on and off the field. The way Ishan bhaiya batted in the final was unbelievable, and I cannot describe it in words. The entire game changed there. Even as a captain, people have seen him for a long time, so it was fun to play under him and enjoy.”

Ishan Kishan ended by saying, “You enjoyed isn’t it, didn’t you? That’s what’s important.”
