After receiving an email threatening to bomb the Secretariat in Gandhinagar on Thursday (September 10), the cyber team launched a technical analysis. During investigation, the email address was located in Bhagalpur, Bihar. Then Roshan Kumar was arrested from there. The investigation then led to Deoghar in Jharkhand, where the main accused Gulshan Kumar Singh was also arrested.
A list of 513,847 unique email IDs and passwords was recovered from the accused. This was used to send threatening emails. The investigation also revealed that financial assistance was reimbursed to the accused by the co-accused residing in Bangladesh.
Superintendent of Police of Cyber Cell of Excellence Vivek Bheda said that Gulshan Kumar Singh has so far generated more than 500,000 unique Gmail email IDs and passwords. He not only generated email id and password, but also authenticator and seed code. These details were then sold and used to send threatening emails.
The ID used to send the threatening email to the secretariat on September 10 was also found in the sheet recovered from Gulshan. However, the email was sent by Roshan Kumar from Bihar using this ID. Gulshan created and forwarded the email ID and password, while Roshan used this ID to send threatening emails.
