Key Points

  • Whole Foods Market recalled two cheeses due to an undeclared egg allergen.
  • The recalled cheeses, sold in seven states, have best-by dates up to October 7, 2026.
  • Dispose of cheeses and seek immediate medical attention if you are experiencing an allergic reaction

There’s an active recall on two types of cheese sold at Whole Foods Market in seven states, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This is due to an undeclared allergen.

The following cheeses are being recalled from 18 Whole Foods locations, and they contain best-by dates up to and including October 7, 2026:

  • Mean Cabricharme Coop Formagerie with PLU “57953,” sold in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island
  • Belgian Cabricharme with PLU “54670,” sold in Arizona and California

Check your refrigerator, and if you have any of the recalled cheese on hand, dispose of it or return to your local Whole Foods for a refund. The products are being recalled because they contain egg lysozyme, an egg white protein, which is not declared on the product label.

Those with an allergy to eggs may experience reactions as severe as anaphylaxis when consuming the impacted cheese products. Seek immediate medical attention if adverse symptoms occur.

For questions about this recall, contact the company at 1-844-936-8255 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday, or 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT, Saturday and Sunday.
