Kalanithi Maran is an Indian billionaire, founder and chairman of Sun Group, one of India’s largest media conglomerates. He has produced multiple movies in his career, and one of the recent movies produced by Sun Pictures was DC. It received an overwhelming response from viewers. The movie has now been released on OTT, where it continues to receive appreciation from viewers. Looking at the response, Kalanithi Maran and Sun Pictures decided to gift three new BMW iX1 electric SUVs to Arun Matheswaran, Lokesh Kanagaraj and Anirudh Ravichander.
The video has been shared by Sun Pictures on its X profile and other social media platforms. In this video, we see the director of the movie, Arun Matheswaran, the lead actor Lokesh Kanagaraj and the music director Anirudh Ravichander walking with Kalanithi Maran towards the porch of a building.
Outside, a car covered in black satin cloth was waiting for them. It was a gift from producer Kalanithi Maran, and the car under the satin cloth is a BMW iX1 electric luxury SUV. The post mentions that Kalanithi Maran is gifting cars, which means each of them is getting a car. We see Kalanithi Maran greet all three and handing over the keys to their individual cars and going for a quick ride in the car. While most of the viewers are happy, we also came across multiple comments asking Kalanithi Maran to actually gift the actress Wamiq Gabbi a car for her outstanding performance in the movie.
The BMW iX1 seen here in the video was launched in the market last year. It is the electric version of the BMW X1 SUV. The SUV seen here is the eDrive 20L M Sport variant, which is offered with a long wheelbase. The SUV comes with slim adaptive LED headlamps and a mesh pattern for the ‘kidney’ grille. The bumper gets an aggressive look, along with 18-inch alloy wheels, 3D LED tail lamps and more.
The SUV is available in Mineral White, Skyscraper Grey, M Carbon Black, M Portimao Blue and Sparkling Copper Grey. The car seen here in the video looks like it is finished in the Carbon Black shade.
The BMW iX1 is a luxury electric SUV with features like a driver-oriented ‘Widescreen Curved Display’, comprising a digital 10.25-inch instrument display and a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen. It also gets a panoramic sunroof, reclining rear seats, dual-zone climate control, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, Veganza leatherette upholstery, Level 2 ADAS, a Park Assist feature, eight airbags, ISOFIX anchors, EPB and more.
The electric SUV is powered by a 66.4 kWh battery pack. The battery pack offers a claimed range of 531 km. It sends power to the front wheels, which generate 204 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. The electric SUV is capable of doing the 0–100 kmph sprint in just 8.6 seconds, and it supports DC fast charging speeds of up to 130 kW.
As mentioned above, the SUV was launched last year at an attractive introductory price of Rs 49 lakh, ex-showroom. However, if you want to buy the same EV in 2026, you would have to spend more. The ex-showroom price of the BMW iX1 EV is Rs 52.40 lakh, ex-showroom, and it is available only in a single variant.
