Blue Aadhaar Card: To avail government subsidies and various government-run welfare schemes, Aadhaar is not only one of the most important KYC documents in the country but it is also considered an important identity proof document in various sectors because It contains important details of citizens. Name, permanent address, and date of birth are linked to a unique 12-digit number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India i.e. UIDAI.

In 2018, UIDAI issued an Aadhaar card specifically for children below 5 years of age. As the name suggests the child's Aadhar card i.e. blue Aadhar card is blue, unlike the regular white Aadhar card for adults. This card also has a 12-digit unique identification number.

Biometric data of the child is not required for issuing the card and the UID is processed based on demographic information and photograph linked to the parent's UID.

Parents can apply for Baal Aadhaar for a newborn baby using the birth certificate or hospital discharge slip. Children's school ID can also be used for Bal Aadhar Card.

Is biometric data necessary

The child will have to update the biometric data of his 10 fingers, iris and facial photographs when he turns five and again at the age of 15, otherwise the card will become invalid. Biometric data update is free for Kishore Aadhaar cardholders. According to UIDAI, parents can apply for Baal Aadhaar for a newborn baby. They can also use their children's school ID to enroll for Bal Aadhar Card.

Register for such blue Aadhar card

  • Visit UIDAI website and select Aadhaar card registration option.

  • After this the process of document verification starts.
  • Blue Aadhar Card will be issued in the name of your child within 60 days of verification.
