WhatsApp, which has been implementing security features, is now introducing a new feature that prevents users from taking photos of other users’ profile pictures. The capability is now being rolled out for display pictures (DP), however it was previously only accessible for one-view photographs or films.

Although view-once features have addressed almost all of the problems with the choice, impersonation and privacy invasion have worsened as many fraudsters were able to take screenshots of the photographs without alerting the user. But, the instant messaging service, which is owned by Meta, wants to protect users’ privacy. As a result, users will get a black screen if they try to snap a screenshot of the image.

The insider said that while the function hasn’t been made accessible to everyone yet, it will be in the next weeks. This is in response to a story stating that WhatsApp Android beta version 2.24.4.25 was the first to deliver the functionality. A message that reads, “Can’t take a screenshot due to app restrictions,” appears when you try to take a screenshot.

It may be one of the most important safety elements, and users are unable to disable or modify the function using the instant messaging program. On Facebook, a similar program known as Profile Picture Guard prevents users from capturing screenshots of images.
