According to the report of Android Police, WhatsApp is working to increase privacy. However, Meta or WhatsApp themselves have not shared any information about this update. The new privacy update will come from WhatsApp servers and will not be only for the app version. This means that a new update is being brought for the users of both the app and the browser.

Will not be able to take screenshot of WhatsApp profile picture

According to the report, if someone tries to take a screenshot of the profile picture of a WhatsApp user, an alert message will be shown. It will be written in it – Screenshot cannot be taken due to app restrictions. It is also possible that the user will take a screenshot, but that photo will be blurred or blank. This privacy update will work in both beta and stable versions of WhatsApp. This facility will be available on both mobile phones and desktops. However, screenshots of WhatsApp chats can still be taken.

With the introduction of the new privacy feature, WhatsApp will have an advantage in competition with its competitor messaging platforms. Currently, WhatsApp's competition is with platforms like Signal and Telegram. Both these platforms do not provide any such feature for the privacy of the users.

WhatsApp is bringing another feature

WhatsApp is working on another feature, with the help of which its users will be able to share messages on other messaging apps also. Users will get the option of apps like Signal, Telegram to share messages. This action comes after Europe's Digital Markets Act regulations, in which big companies will have to enable message sharing between different messaging apps. Six months time has been given for this. According to WABetainfo, this feature is currently in WhatsApp beta version 2.24.5.18. After the introduction of this feature, users will not need to keep separate messaging apps on their phones.

One more thing, while sharing messages, third party apps can use different end-to-end encryption technologies. At the same time, third party apps may have their own separate policies, under which the data shared can be handled differently. Chats done on third party apps will be shown in a separate inbox.
