An important rule is changing for subscribers of the government-backed retirement scheme National Pension System (NPS) from April 1, 2024. Pension regulator Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has added another step for the security of NPS accounts. For this, a circular was issued on March 15 saying that now two-factor Aadhaar-based authentication will be mandatory for password-based users to access the CRA system.
The Aadhaar-based authentication rule came
According to the circular, the Central Record Keeping Agency (CRA) system of NPS is introducing the system of Aadhaar-based login authentication for the existing user ID and password-based login process. After the implementation of this new security protocol, NPS Subscribers can now log in to their account by simply authenticating their account with Aadhaar and entering the OTP received on their registered mobile number. For this, PFRDA will integrate the current user ID and password-based login.
At present, NPS account holders require an NPS ID and password to log to the CRA system, but after this they will have to do Aadhaar-based verification.
How to login to NPS account?
You can now follow these steps to access NPS account using two-factor Aadhaar authentication:
- Visit NPS website: https://enps.nsdl.com/eNPS/NationalPensionSystem.html
- Select the option 'Login with PRAIN/IPIN'.
- Click on the PRAIN/IPIN tab to open a new window.
- Login by entering your user ID and password.
- Complete captcha verification.
- The window will then prompt for Aadhaar authentication and send an OTP to your registered mobile number.
- Enter OTP.
- Now you can open your NPS account.
