Murder of a kebab worker for Rs 120, life imprisonment for two including the guilty goldsmith; Court gave verdict in 10 months

Bareilly News In Bareilly, UP, kebab artisan Naseer Ahmed was murdered for Rs 120 in May 2023. In this case, the guilty jeweler Mayank Rastogi and Tajim Shamsi have been sentenced to life imprisonment by Additional Sessions Judge II Devashish Pandey. The third accused Anil Rastogi, father of the guilty Mayank, was acquitted by the court.

 

 Additional Sessions Judge II Devashish Pandey has sentenced jewelers Mayank Rastogi and Tajim Shamsi, who were found guilty of murdering kebab artisan Naseer Ahmed for Rs 120, to life imprisonment. The court acquitted the third accused Anil Rastogi, father of convicted Mayank.


Mayank had fired from his father's licensed revolver, so Anil was accused of misuse of the licensed revolver under the Arms Act. The court acquitted Anil as misuse was not proved. The culprits have also been fined Rs 1 lakh each. This amount will be given to the victim's family. Mayank is a resident of Bamnpuri and Tajim Gadhiya locality of Kila. The court sentenced the culprits in the famous murder case within 10 months and 18 days.

On May 3, 2023, at 11 pm, Mayank and Tajim Shamsi reached the chicken and kebab corner shop below the Ankur BDA office. They ordered kebabs. After eating, when it was their turn to pay Rs 120, they said that the taste was bad and refused to pay the money.

Before the artisan Naseer Ahmad could understand anything, Mayank shot him with his licensed revolver killed him and fled. Shop owner Ankur Sabbarwal filed an FIR in the case. Investigation revealed that Mayank had reached home after the incident. He hid the revolver there and fled with Tajim. Meanwhile, to mislead the police, he told his location as Gujarat but he was caught through phone CDR and the car number at the scene of the incident. Police arrested both of them and sent them to jail.

 

The then inspector Rajesh Singh completed the investigation and filed the charge sheet in the court. The trial began. Government lawyer Achintya Dwivedi presented eight witnesses in the court. On Tuesday, based on the statements of the witnesses and the postmortem report, both Mayank and Tajim were held guilty of Nasir's murder. On Thursday, both were sentenced to life imprisonment. After the incident, the guilty jeweler applied for bail in court. The court had refused to grant him bail. However, Tajim got bail. After being convicted, he was again sent to jail.

 

The widow did not have the money to pay the fees

Government lawyer Achintya Dwivedi said that at the beginning of the case, the widow came to the court several times. She said that she was very poor. She was troubled and was not in a position to hire a private lawyer. Then she was assured that she should not worry. Her case would be fought strongly by the government. She did not come to the court on the day of the decision.
