As the income tax return (ITR) filing deadline is approaching all the taxpayers are rushing to find different investment methods to save their taxes. Those who have already finalized their investment plans or invested throughout the year have started filing their tax returns with the income tax department to meet the deadline of 31st March. Earlier taxpayers had to send their 1-page verification document i.e. the ITR-V to the Income Tax Department in Bangalore.
But now taxpayers no longer have to send it to the I.T. department if they can verify their returns online with the help of an OTP received on their Aadhaar registered mobile number. Let us check how to verify Income Tax Return Online by Aadhaar Number Who Can E-verify ITR Using Aadhaar Card: One who has linked an Aadhaar card to a PAN number. Also, an active mobile number is linked to Aadhaar. How To e-Verify Income Tax Return Using Aadhaar Card login to the Income Tax Department’s e-filing official website. On the dashboard click on the option ‘e-file’ tab Select ‘Income Tax Returns’ Then select ‘e-verify return’ Select the recent ITR for which e-verification is still pending.
Another screen will appear where you can see the option ‘I would like to e-verify using OTP on a mobile number registered with Aadhaar‘. To complete this verification through Aadhaar OTP as mentioned earlier your mobile number has to be linked to Aadhaar and also your PAN-Aadhaar must be linked. Click on the box and click on ‘Generate Aadhaar OTP’. OTP will be valid only for 15 minutes. Enter the OTP number and click on ‘Submit’. It will pop up a message ‘Return successfully e-Verified.
