WhatsApp is currently testing a feature that will alert users about new unseen status updates from their contacts, which will be included in an upcoming update to the app. However, it’s not clear how every status update installed on the app will be included. The user will get status notification for the app or a rule will be created for it. In this case, it is assumed that the alert may be received when the user is mentioned in a status and has not seen that status.
