EPFO has increased the limit for medical treatment under 68J of the EPFO rules.
EPFO Medical Fund: How To Do Partial Withdrawal
- The EPFO members need to first log in to their EPFO portal using their Universal Account Number (UAN) details and ensure that Know Your Customer (KYC) details and service eligibility information are accurate and updated.
- The next step is choosing the type of claim the customer wishes to avail of, for example, marriage, medical emergencies, house purchase, or home loan repayment.
- Verify the account using the one-time password (OTP) received on your registered mobile number.
- At the last step, the customer has to complete the online claim submission process by following the prompts and providing the necessary documentation.
68-J Advance From EPFO Fund for Illness In Cases:
(1) A member may be allowed non-refundable advance from his account in the Fund in cases of: (a) hospitalisation lasting for one month or more, or (b) major surgical operation in a hospital, or (c) suffering from T.B., leprosy, paralysis, cancer, mental derangement or heart ailment) and having been granted leave by his employer for treatment of the said illness, as per the EPFO website. “The amount advanced under this paragraph shall not exceed the member’s (basic wages and dearness allowance) for (six) months or his own share of contribution with interest in the Fund, whichever is less,” the EPFO documents also said.READ NEXT
