In today's scenario, from any government schemes to simple tasks like opening a bank account, various documents play an important role in our daily lives. Of these, the Aadhaar card holds greater importance, it serves as a popular form of identification in India. Be it purchasing a SIM card or enrolling in any government program, the Aadhaar card is a prerequisite, which captures the biometric data of individuals. But do you know some rules related to this, under which you can change some things in your Aadhar card only once, let us know about them-
What cannot be changed:
The 16-digit Aadhaar number is a permanent identifier, which, once allotted, remains unchanged. You can download a new Aadhar card, but its number will remain the same throughout your life. This unique identification consists of biometric data such as fingerprints and retina scans, making it resistant to replication by counterfeit means.
What can be modified with restrictions:
Some details on Aadhaar card can be corrected with limitations. Correction in date of birth and gender is allowed only once, giving cardholders only one opportunity for correction.
Additionally, name change is permissible twice. Both online and offline methods are available to make these corrections, however online correction requires a nominal fee of Rs 50.
