Currently, users can react to status updates using suggested emojis or by selecting an emoji from the keyboard UI. However, reports indicate that WhatsApp is exploring the possibility of introducing a one-tap “like” button, similar to Instagram, to enable quick reactions to status updates.

In the latest beta version of WhatsApp, a new toggle switch called “Like reactions” has been spotted in the Notification Settings section. Enabling this feature would trigger push notifications whenever a friend reacts to one of your status updates with a like.

This new tool is aimed at simplifying the process of responding to status updates from friends and family. However, users may experience an influx of notifications if the toggle is activated after posting a status update visible to numerous contacts.
