The car stopped outside the residence. Three people got down from that car. One of them was the late Bangladesh Awami League MP Anwarul Azim. Two other people were also with him.
The police identified the red car based on this source of CCTV footage. The police have started questioning the car owner and the driver. Let us tell you that the police came to know from the CCTV footage that the people who came with the MP left the residence one by one. But the late MP never left the residence.
Let us tell you that MP Anwarul Azim had come to Kolkata from Bangladesh to work. But did not return home. Bangladesh Home Minister said that Anwarul was murdered in Kolkata as part of a planned murder. According to sources, CID has taken charge of the investigation of this incident. After this, CID IG Akhilesh Chaturved visited the residence in New Town.
MP came to Kolkata from Bangladesh on May 12
Anwarul came to India for treatment on 12 May. He first went to his friend Gopal Biswas's house in Baranagar. After staying there for a few days, one day Anwarul left the house. There has been no trace of him since then. When Anwarul's family in Bangladesh could not be contacted, they also contacted Gopal.
Gopal told them that he too was not able to contact Anwarul. CID IG Akhilesh said that when he was not found, Gopal had filed a missing complaint in the police station. Barrackpore Police Commissionerate formed a team to investigate the allegations. Akhilesh Chaturvedi said, “That investigation was going on. On May 22, we came to know that he was murdered. The local police station traced the location where he was last seen. After this, the responsibility of investigation was handed over to CID.”
According to CID sources, the flat in New Town where Anwarul is said to be staying belongs to government employee Sandeep. He again rented this flat to a person named Akhtaruzzaman. The CID IG said that Akhtaruzzaman is an American citizen. But it is still not clear how the Bangladesh MP stayed in a rented flat in the name of Akhtaruzzaman. The top police officer was asked about this but he did not give any answer.
Akhilesh Chaturvedi said, "A missing complaint was lodged on the 18th. After this, the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate formed an SIT. During that investigation, we got this news."
