New Delhi: A massive fire engulfed over 12 huts in the Yamuna Khadar area of Mayur Vihar, East Delhi on Saturday, after a cooking gas cylinder exploded. Reportedly, eight vehicles worth lakhs were burnt to ashes on the spot.
The blaze, which occurred around 11 AM, was triggered by multiple cylinder explosions during cooking activities.The fire quickly spread throughout the surrounding slum, causing chaos and panic among residents.
Avdesh Kumar, fire officer, confirmed the extent of the devastation caused by the blaze, which required the deployment of eight fire brigade vehicles to bring it under control.
The fire claimed the lives of five animals and resulted in the complete destruction of goods and jewellery stored within the affected slum dwellings.
