WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out several new privacy features on its platform and one such feature is audience control, which will allow users to easily manage who sees their status updates. Some Beta testers can now explore a new audience selector when sharing images and videos through status updates.
The Meta-owned instant messaging app will prompt users to review the audience they are sharing their content with, allowing them to ensure it goes to the right people. Before sharing images and videos via status updates, users will have the option to change their audience by selecting their favorite contacts, giving them greater control over their sharing experience.
The audience control feature for status updates is available to some beta testers who install the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app, and it will be rolled out to more people over the coming week.

"It appears that WhatsApp is currently experimenting with new tools aimed at offering users enhanced control over the content they share and the recipients with whom they share it. After installing the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.10.10.75 update, which is available on the TestFlight app, we discovered that WhatsApp is now rolling out an audience control feature for status updates," WABetaInfo reported.
The report revealed that this feature will make user privacy and customization better. It'll help users manage who sees their updates more easily. It further added that by allowing users to select their audience more thoughtfully, it encourages them to double-check and consider more carefully whom they are sharing their content with.
In addition, recognizing that specific content may require a different audience, users will be able to quickly change their audience settings for each status update, ensuring that their content reaches the most appropriate contacts each time, the report said.
