The driver was just a pawn, the mastermind was someone else… Inside story of the murder of a retired IAS officer's wife

In the case of murder of retired IAS Devendra Dubey's wife in Indira Nagar area of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, the police today arrested two accused during an encounter. The two accused Akhilesh and Ravi Yadav arrested in the encounter are real brothers, while another accused Ranjeet is their partner. The three had carried out this crime together. At present, the police is busy interrogating the accused, so that the real reason behind the crime can be known. After all, who is the mastermind behind this murder?

Lucknow's JTCP Crime Akash Kulhari said that recently in Indira Nagar Sector-20, retired IAS Devendra Dubey's wife Mohini Dubey was murdered and robbed. A case was registered in Ghazipur police station in this matter. On Tuesday, three accused were arrested in the case. Six police teams were deployed to uncover the incident. It was revealed with the help of CCTV and DVR. Jewellery worth Rs 1 crore was recovered from the accused.

JTCP Crime Akash Kulhari said that on the indication of accused Akhilesh, a bag kept in the bushes near Kukrail drain was taken out. Akhilesh told that it contains DVR and cash. When the policemen asked him to open the chain and show the DVR, Akhilesh opened the chain of the bag and suddenly took out an illegal pistol and fired at the police. In the retaliatory firing, Akhilesh got shot in the leg. A head constable of Ghazipur police station was also injured in this firing. The head constable and accused Akhilesh have been sent to the hospital for treatment.

They were planning the crime for 4 months

JTCP Crime Akash Kulhari said that this incident was carried out to loot the jewellery and money kept in the house of former IAS Devendra Dubey. Drivers Akhilesh and Ravi Yadav are real brothers. Both of them were drivers at Devendra's place for 14 years. Akhilesh along with his brother Ravi and friend Ranjit had planned the robbery and murder. These people were planning to execute the crime for about four months. On the day of the incident, when these people were looting, the former IAS's wife Mohini Dubey saw them and out of fear of getting caught, they killed them.

During interrogation of the accused, it was found that they perpetrated this crime because they had to pay loan for medical and marriage and had talked about giving one-third share to their third friend i.e. Ranjit. Investigation is being done on the involvement of other people in the crime. Saturday was chosen to perpetrate the whole crime because the maid of the house was on leave on that day.

Did both the drivers get misled by someone?

However, this is the police theory, which has been revealed in the investigation and action so far. Is someone else behind this murder? Such questions are being raised because there was a dispute over property division in Devendra Dubey's house. A few days ago, Devendra had sold his house in Gomti Nagar, for which he got 90 lakh rupees. All that money was with his wife Mohini Dubey. There was a dispute going on with the children regarding this money. The police is investigating the angle of money dispute. The police suspects that Akhilesh and Ravi, who have been working as drivers in the same house for 14 years, have been misled by someone.

The killers were seen at 12 places within a radius of nine kilometers

During the investigation, the police came close to solving this murder case with the help of CCTV cameras installed in the city. While scanning the CCTV cameras installed around Indira Nagar, the police suspected two young men riding a scooter, but it was difficult to identify them because the young men were wearing helmets. Police teams were constantly keeping an eye on the CCTV cameras installed from Indira Nagar to Cantt intersection. Finally, a picture emerged near Cantt, where the young man sitting behind on the scooter had taken off his helmet for a few moments. From there, it became easy to identify the young man involved in the murder.

Retired IAS Devendra Dubey had identified the killers

The police had called retired IAS Devendra Dubey to identify the miscreants seen in the CCTV footage. The retired IAS then identified the miscreant as one of his acquaintances. Now the suspicion that this acquaintance was Akhilesh was getting stronger. Since Akhilesh was the driver of the house, Mohini Dubey opened the door as soon as she saw him. After this, Akhilesh entered the house with his brother Ravi and his friend Ranjit and committed the crime.

The killers fled on a scooter after the incident

There were cameras installed at Devendra's house, but the killers were very clever. They uprooted the DVR after the incident. At present, all three accused are in police custody. The main accused is admitted in the hospital due to injuries in the encounter. The police is interrogating the other two accused Ravi and Ranjit. They are also trying to find out whether the plan for the crime was only Akhilesh's or someone from Devendra's house was also involved.

Mohini was Devendra's second wife

Retired IAS Devendra Dubey's first wife was Meena. Meena died in 2004. He had two sons from Meena. Devendra married Mohini for the second time in 2007. Mohini has no children. One son of Devendra's first wife Meena currently works in Noida, while the other son lives in Lucknow. However, he did not live with Devendra and Mohini. Now after Mohini's murder, he has come to live with Devendra.
