Washington. WhatsApp head Will Cathcart has shown the mirror to Elon Musk in the data theft case. Recently, Elon Musk had tweeted about Meta’s instant messaging platform WhatsApp, in which serious allegations were made against the app. Elon Musk had said in his X post that WhatsApp transfers the data of its users every night. The WhatsApp head denied these allegations of Musk and explained to the people about the end-to-end encryption feature of the app.
Will Cathcart replied to Elon Musk’s post saying that many people have said this many times but it is not right to repeat the same thing again and again. There is no point in repeating it. WhatsApp takes the security of its users seriously, so their private messages are encrypted end-to-end.
Will Cathcart further explained in his post that if users want to backup their chats, they can do so using their cloud service provider using end-to-end encryption. After this, Will shared a link to a WhatsApp FAQ, which explains the steps on how to backup with end-to-end encryption.
How to take End-to-End encrypted backup
For this, users will first have to open the WhatsApp app on their phones.
After this, go to Settings and go to Chats option and tap on Chat Backup.
Select the end-to-end encrypted backup option here and turn it on.
To turn it on, you will be asked to set a password or generate a 64-digit encrypted key.
Users can generate password or key as per their convenience and can also save their chat backup with end-to-end encryption.
However, this is not the first time that Elon Musk has made a statement about Facebook or Meta on X. Musk has made statements about Mark Zuckerberg many times before this.
