The Karnataka Police recently arrested a jilted lover for allegedly killing three people of a family in Hosalingapura under the Koppal district.

They said the accused, Asif, a resident of Hospet, murdered a woman Vasantha, 28, her mother Rajeshwari, 50, and her son Sai Dharmatej, 5. The bodies of the victims were found at their residence in Hosalingapura.

The police said Vasantha, a native of Andhra Pradesh, had separated from her husband and was living in Hosalingapura with her mother and son. She worked in a doll manufacturing factory and got married to one Arif, who is the brother of the accused, six months ago. Arif used to occasionally visit the family.

They added that Asif was earlier in a relationship with Vasantha and could not accept her marriage to his brother.

The police said Asif came to Vasantha’s residence on Monday evening and first killed Rajeshwari by smothering her and then murdered the child. Investigators claimed that Vasantha was away at work at that time, and she was murdered after she returned from work.

A police officer said, “Asif and Arif had fought in Hospet over the marriage. At some point, all the three had worked together. Asif escaped after killing the three and was caught. He is now in judicial custody.”

On Monday, Vasantha’s younger sister called over the phone and as they did not answer the call, she came home on Tuesday morning to check on them and discovered the bodies. Rajeshwari and Sai Dharmatej’s bodies were found in the bedroom while Vasantha’s body was discovered in the kitchen.
