WhatsApp is gearing up to enhance its video calling capabilities by introducing three new features this week. These updates are aimed at competing with platforms like Zoom and Google Meet.

First, WhatsApp will introduce screen sharing during video calls, a feature recently seen in its beta version. This will allow users to share movies or other content with friends and family during video calls.

Second, WhatsApp is increasing the limit of participants in group video calls. Users will be able to include up to 32 people in a video call on any device, facilitating conversations in larger groups.

Third, during group chats, WhatsApp will provide users with options to highlight themselves, ensuring that they appear prominently on the screen and lead group activities.

Additionally, WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to transcribe their voice messages directly on their devices.

Initially spotted in the WhatsApp for iPhone beta update, the feature is expected to be available on Android as well.

According to WABetainfo, the transcription feature will require users to download an additional 150MB of app data.

The transcription capability will be particularly useful in scenarios where playing voice messages is not possible. Additionally, the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.13.8 reveals plans to allow users to choose a language for transcription, with options such as Hindi, English, Russian, Portuguese (Brazil), and Spanish.

Users will need to download a corresponding language data package to enable this functionality.
