WhatsApp is the world's most popular instant messaging app. However, when you receive photos and videos, as soon as you click on them, they are automatically saved in your phone's gallery, gradually filling up your storage.
This can affect the performance of your device, which can be frustrating. Fortunately, there is a trick to solve this problem, but it requires a small change in WhatsApp settings.
Here's how to stop photos and videos from automatically saving to your phone. You can do this in two ways, depending on whether you want to stop it for individual or group chats.
Disabling media auto-save for all chats
- Launch the WhatsApp app on your phone.
- Tap the three dots in the top right corner of the screen.
- Click "Settings", then click "Chats".
- In the "Chats" menu, find the "Media Visibility" option and turn it off.
- Disable media auto-save for a specific chat.
- Select the individual chat for which you want to disable this feature.
- Tap the three dots in the top right corner of the chat screen and select "View Contact".
- Then turn off the Media Visibility option.
