In India, an Aadhaar card serves as an essential document to verify a person's identity and is used for various services and subsidies. However, changing the information on the Aadhaar card can be challenging due to document requirements. This guide explains how to update your Aadhaar card address using your electricity bill.
Process to update Aadhaar address online
Visit the UIDAI website uidai.gov.in.
Go to the "MY Aadhaar" section and click on "Update Your Aadhaar".
Select "Demographics Data Online".
The Self-Service Update Portal will open. Select the column to change the address.
Click on "Address" and then click on "Proceed".
Your current address will be displayed. Fill in the required personal details and upload a valid document (eg, electricity bill).
You will be asked to pay ₹50 to change the address.
Review the new address and submit the form.
You will get an update request number (URN) to track the status on the UIDAI website.
An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number to update the request.
Let us tell you that among the documents that will be asked from you to change the address, you have to choose the option of electricity bill. You will get the details of the nearest Aadhaar update center with the scheduled time and date. Bring your latest electricity bill to the center. The address will be updated within 10 days.
Offline process to update the address
Visit the nearest bank. Visit a bank that handles Aadhaar updates. Get and fill out the update form with the required information. Get the form verified by your local councilor or ward member. Submit the verified form, a photo and the required documents to the bank. The address update will be processed within 10 days.
