You must have heard that Aadhaar cards are made for humans, but have you heard that Aadhaar cards are also made for land? If not, then this news is correct. Yes, now Aadhaar cards will also be made for land. The central government has taken this important step regarding land reforms in rural and urban areas in the General Budget 2024. Under this, a proposal has been made to issue a unique identification number or 'Bhoomi Aadhaar' for land in rural areas and digitization of all urban land records.
What will be in Bhu Aadhaar?
If media reports are to be believed, the government will provide financial assistance to the states to complete these land reforms within the next three years. Land ownership will be clear with Bhu-Aadhaar and land-related disputes will also end. Under this scheme, all the lands in rural areas will get a 14-digit unique identification number, which is known as Bhu-Aadhaar. In this, survey, mapping, and ownership and registration of farmers will be done along with the identification number of the land.
GIS mapping will be done in cities
Land records in urban areas will be digitized with GIS mapping. An IT-based system will be established for property record administration, updation, and tax administration. This will also help in improving the financial condition of urban local bodies. Bhu-Aadhaar consists of a state code, district code, sub-district code, village code, unique ID number of the plot, etc. The bhu-Aadhaar number is imprinted on digital and physical land record documents.
