A three-year-old girl died after a golden retriever fell on her from the fifth floor of a building in Thane, Maharashtra, on Tuesday.
Surveillance footage of the incident, which has been widely shared on social media, shows the girl walking with her mother on a busy street when the dog fell.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. The girl sustained severe injuries and was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
It remains unclear whether the dog jumped or was thrown from the building.
As per an official, the police are investigating the matter and are checking with the Thane Municipal Corporation to determine if the dog’s owner had the necessary permissions or if negligence played a role.
The girl’s body has been sent to a government hospital for an autopsy, and an investigation is ongoing.
The girl’s mother has stated to the police that she does not suspect any foul play in her daughter’s death.
