Meta's owned messaging platform WhatsApp is used by millions of users around the world. Based on the feedback from users and their needs, new features are constantly being added to the app to improve the chatting experience.

Now the new group description feature has become a part of Communities, so that users can get information about the group before joining it.

WABetaInfo, a platform that provides information about WhatsApp updates and new features coming in it, has reported that the group descriptions feature for communities is now being rolled out for all users. This change has been seen in WhatsApp for iOS version 24.16.75. A screenshot of this has also surfaced, in which it is seen that the option to write a group description alternatively is also now available.

This is how the new group description feature will work

In messaging apps, users are often made a part of a new group or an invite is sent for it. The reason for creating a group just by the name and what will be the benefit of it is not known every time. In such a situation, with the group description feature, this information will be available even before becoming a part of the group. Users will know whether they want to be a part of the group or not and what is the purpose of the group.

Currently, the new feature has become a part of the stable version of the iOS app. In such a situation, some users have started getting its benefits and the rest will start getting this feature in the next few weeks. If you are also an iPhone user, then keep your app updated to the latest version. After iOS, this feature will also be provided in Android apps.

Animated avatars will appear in profile info

The messaging platform is working on another feature with which animated avatars of users will appear on their profile screen. Users also get the option to create their own avatar and create stickers for it in other services of Meta. These avatars will be customizable and testing of changes to them has started in the beta version.
