Samastipur: A bizarre example of the health care facilities in Bihar’s Samastipur was caught on camera, wherein a man with severe burn injuries was being treated at a hospital with no electricity, under torchlight. The picture, reportedly of an emergency room in a hospital in Bihar’s Samastipur with no electricity and a man on a bed with burn injuries being treated under torchlight, was going viral on social media showing the poor infrastructure in Bihar’s hospitals.

According to the reports, the picture was from the Sadar Hospital's emergency ward in Samastipur, which showed a man holding a phone and the patient, who suffered burn injuries after an electric shock, was lying on the bed.

At the hospital, an IV drip was inserted in the right hand of the patient, while a doctor was seen applying antiseptic burn injury cream on his wounds. A woman from the patient's family holds his feet as the man is being treated in an emergency ward with no electricity.

As the picture with bizarre claims surfaced on social media, Deputy Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr Nagmani, while explaining the reason behind no electricity in the hospital, said, "There was earthing in the generator's wire after heavy rain and because of which we had to shut it. It took us at least 20 minutes to repair and restart the generator. We have given orders to install an inverter, which is expected to be done by today."
The Operation Theatre of the Emergency Ward reportedly had no power supply for around 30 minutes. The man from Mohanpur was referred from the Patori Hospital to Sadar Hospital for better treatment after his condition was serious due to an electric shock.
