In fact, WABetaInfo, a website that tracks new features of WhatsApp, said that in the latest development, the company is working on the Username with PIN feature on iOS. This feature was first seen working on Android. This feature was seen in iOS beta “24.18.10.70” version.
According to the report, this feature is currently in the development phase and has not been rolled out even for beta testers enrolled in the TestFlight program. However, you will have to keep the WhatsApp beta updated for your iPhone app so that you can get this feature after the rollout. Let us tell you that the username can work as a possible option to chat with others while keeping the mobile number private.
iPhone users will get username support
In the future, iPhone users may get username support to chat with people via username. This option may also get PIN integration for additional security. This feature can make the conversation more secure and private while increasing the privacy of the user. Also, iOS users may get the option of which medium they want to chat: by username or phone number.
The new feature will work as a gatekeeper
The username pin feature will allow people to start a conversation, and only those who have the correct PIN will be able to contact you in the first place. This will act as a gatekeeper to who can contact you using your username. There may also be an option to change or remove the username pin. This will allow you to limit conversations with people who can contact you using the old PIN.
WABetaInfo reported that the username PIN should not contain private or sensitive details, such as verification codes. The feature will be optional and if you do not configure the feature, the username will be accessible to those who know it. Such users can start chatting without any verification. However, the PIN will limit chats with new users while ensuring that contacts and ongoing conversations remain unaffected.
