In the latest move, according to WABetaInfo, the company is now working on a voice chat mode for the Meta AI chat model on Android. The feature was reportedly spotted in Android beta version '2.24.18.18'. Since the feature is still in the development stage, it is not being rolled out for beta testers.�According to the report, the voice chat mode for Meta AI was first spotted working in an iOS beta build. Also, the company was previously developing an option to choose a Meta AI voice and convert speech to text with a “Captions and Transcriptions” toggle. According to a screengrab shared by WABetaInfo, this feature could enable hands-free chat with Meta AI.�Once the feature is rolled out, a “Hold to chat using your voice” message may pop up on the Meta AI icon. This will allow people to interact with the chatbot more naturally and efficiently. Also, speaking may be faster than typing in case of conversation. Meta AI can respond in a selected voice, which users can choose based on their preferences.
Also, the company may bring a voice shortcut with the chat mode by pressing the floating action button. The voice chat mode may allow faster and more natural chats for responsive responses with Meta AI. Users may get the option to enable the mode manually. This will also be helpful in situations when typing is not a possible or convenient option. Users can switch to text mode at any time and pause the voice mode to maintain the privacy of conversations in public environments. When Meta AI is listening, the specific visual indicator may appear in the status bar on Android. This will provide users with more control over conversations with Meta AI. WhatsApp beta for Android users should keep their app updated from the Google Play Store to try out this feature once it is rolled out.
