WhatsApp is testing a new feature in its beta build for iOS users. The feature, which has already been seen on Android, gives users the ability to have a conversation using a username and PIN instead of exposing their phone number directly.

2. Current Development Status:

At this stage, the Username with PIN feature is still under development and has not yet been rolled out to beta testers on the TestFlight program.

3. Enhanced Privacy for iPhone Users:

Once fully implemented, iPhone users will be able to use usernames for chatting, which provides a layer of privacy by hiding their mobile number.

4. Functionality of the Username PIN feature:

The username PIN will act as a gatekeeper, allowing only those who have the correct PIN to contact you. This system will help manage who can contact you, as well as allow you to change or remove the PIN if needed.

5. Optional and Configurable:

This feature will be optional. If you choose not to set a username or PIN, your username will be visible to everyone who knows it, allowing them to start a conversation without additional verification.
