There is a worrying news for those who think WhatsApp calls are safe - these calls can be recorded by third party apps. In violation of TRAI rules, these apps can record calls without permission and pose a threat to privacy.
Many people resort to WhatsApp calls due to the fear of normal call recording. But now the news is that WhatsApp calls are also not safe. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has rules for normal call recording. But no such rules apply to WhatsApp call recording apps, due to which they are being used indiscriminately. 

Fraud groups use third party apps to record WhatsApp calls. Organizations like TRAI have no authority to control the recording being done by these apps. The victim can only file a complaint of privacy violation under the IT Act. But, it is difficult to find out whether the call is being recorded or not.
Many developed countries have already banned call recording by third party apps. There has been a delay in implementing this law in India. This is the reason why calls coming on old mobile phones can be recorded and the caller will not even know about it. Many third party apps also have features like video recording. They are also used for honey trapping in online fraud.
Some apps also allow you to edit the recorded voice and video. Some apps even allow you to record Facebook Messenger calls. All of this is very worrying. In short, calls made on social media platforms like WhatsApp are not safe.
