NPCI launched UPI Lite to make UPI payment easier and reach everyone. Now a new update has come out for UPI Lite. The Auto Top-Up Feature has been added in UPI Lite. This means thatthe Auto Top-Up Feature has come in UPI Lite.
What is the Auto Top-Up Feature
If ever the amount in the wallet of UPI Lite runs out, then the balance is automatically added through auto-top-up. This means that the user will not have to add balance again and again. Understand it like this, if a UPI user has enabled a top-up of Rs 500, then as soon as the balance in the UPI Lite wallet is exhausted, Rs 500 will be automatically added.
When will this feature start
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has issued a circular regarding the auto-top feature. According to this circular, UPI Lite users can use this feature from 31 October 2024. Through this feature, the selected amount in UPI Lite is automatically added to the account.
How much amount can be added on
The limit for keeping a balance in UPI Lite is Rs 2,000. This means that users can auto-top only Rs 2,000. UPI PIN is not required for payment up to Rs 500 in the UPI Lite wallet. However, to make a payment of more than this amount, the user has to give a UPI PIN.
