The deadline for updating Aadhaar details online ends today, September 14, 2024. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended this deadline several times in the past. The most recent extension happened on June 14, 2024, following earlier extensions on March 15 and December 15 of the previous year.What Can Be Updated Online?Aadhaar card holders have the option to update certain details through the UIDAI’s online portal. Specifically, you can update your address by submitting valid Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents. This service is free if your address has not been updated in the last 10 years. Before updating, it is important to note that Aadhaar card is linked to the same mobile number that where you get OTPs.For updates to other details, such as your name, mobile number, or photograph, you will need to visit a UIDAI-authorised centre.
How To Update Aadhaar Online?Click on the official UIDAI website and go to the Aadhaar Self-Service Portal.Log In: Enter your Aadhaar number, Captcha code, and One-Time Password (OTP) to log in. The OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.Go to the document update section after logging in and check your existing details to ensure everything is correct.In the next step, select the document type from the drop-down menu and upload scanned copies of the original documents for verification.After submitting your update request, you will get a Service Request Number (SRN). Keep this number handy to track the progress of your update in future. Why Regular Updates Are ImportantUIDAI recommends that Aadhaar cardholders update their details every 10 years to ensure all information remains current. The updating of documents is not mandatory unless specific changes are needed.
