Permanent way

The permanent way to hide personal chat on WhatsApp is to lock it. This will put the chat in a locked folder, which only you will be able to access. This folder will be password protected. 

What to do

You can long tap on the chat you want to lock. Then click on the three dots in the right corner of the screen. Then select the Lock chat option from the pop up menu.

Then enter your password or fingerprint to confirm. After this the chat will go to the locked folder. To go to this folder, swipe down on the home screen. Then the locked chat folder will become visible.

How to unlock

You will be able to access the folder by entering your password or fingerprint. You can also unlock the chat if you want. After clicking on the chat, click on the Unlock Chat option from the pop-up menu. Unlock the chat by entering the password.
