At present, beta testing of this feature of WhatsApp is ongoing and soon it will be released for everyone. The new feature has been seen on WhatsApp's Android beta version 2.24.20.16.
It is being said that after the new update, users will have an option with the help of which they will be able to block calls or messages coming from unknown numbers. After changing the settings of the app, messages and calls coming from unknown numbers will be automatically blocked.
If you are also a beta user you can check Settings > Privacy > Advanced > Block unknown account messages. This planning of WhatsApp is to prevent spam and scams.
