Brij Bihari Murder Case: Supreme Court gives life imprisonment to 2 including Munna Shukla, acquits 6 accused including Suraj Bhan Singh

Patna. On Thursday, the Supreme Court has given a big verdict in the murder case of former Science and Technology Minister of Bihar Brij Bihari Prasad. Munna Shukla and Mantu Tiwari have been sentenced to life imprisonment. Apart from this, the order of release of 6 including former MP Suraj Bhan Singh and Rajan Tiwari has been maintained. Let us tell you that Patna High Court had acquitted 8 people including Vijay Shukla and Surajbhan Singh due to lack of evidence. The Supreme Court has acquitted 6 accused including Surajbhan Singh. The verdict has been given while hearing the appeals of former MP Rama Devi and CBI. In the year 2014, all these accused were acquitted by the High Court.

Let us tell you that Brij Bihari was murdered in 1998. In the year 1998, when former minister Bihari Prasad was admitted to IGIMS, Patna for his treatment, he was murdered. In this case, apart from his wife and BJP leader Rama Devi, CBI had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the High Court's decision. On August 21 and 22, a bench of three judges of the Supreme Court completed the hearing and reserved the decision. In 2009, the lower court had sentenced eight accused in this murder case to life imprisonment.

Let us tell you that the attackers had also killed three commandos and a private bodyguard deployed for the security of Brij Bihari. Uttar Pradesh's famous shooter Shriprakash Shukla was involved in this murder, who was at that time considered to be the shooter of Surbhan Singh. The next day after the murder of Brij Bihari Prasad, CPM MLA Ajit Sarkar was also murdered in Purnia. Rajan Tiwari's name came up in that murder too. Along with Rajan, MP Pappu Yadav was also made an accused. Yadav and Rajan Tiwari were acquitted in 2013.
