Amethi murder accused Chandan Verma arrested: Chandan and Poonam did love, but Sunil and his family got punished for it. Sunil, a resident of Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, who faced financial crunch in his family, worked as a labourer, hawked and studied day and night to come out of it. Sunil’s hard work bore fruits and he was selected in two government examinations of UP. First for the post of Police Constable in 2018 and second in UP Teacher Recruitment Examination in 2020. Sunil also had a beautiful family, who had two daughters named Drishti and Lado.
That one night of 3rd October in Amethi and in just seven minutes, the entire family, laughing and playing, became victims of Chandan’s revenge. He shot Sunil, his wife and two daughters and killed all four. Chandan wanted to shoot himself too, but finally when he tried to shoot himself, the spring fell from the pistol and he could not muster the courage to shoot himself again and ran away from the spot. Some time ago he wrote in his WhatsApp bio, ‘Five people are going to die, I will show you soon.’
Chandan’s entry into Sunil’s family
After joining the job as a teacher, Sunil was posted in the BSA office, 35 kilometers away from his home, so he took a house on rent in Matia area and started living there with his wife Poonam and his daughter. Chandan Verma also lived in the same house and it was from here that he entered Sunil’s family. He liked Sunil’s daughter Drishti very much. Chandan used to come to Sunil’s house often on the pretext of feeding him.
During this time, communication between Chandan and Sunil’s wife also started increasing and both of them fell in love with each other. Chandan was only 26 years old at that time. Chandan, crazy in love with Poonam, wanted to get her by any means. To make her happy, Chandan happily spent all his earning money on Poonam. As a mechanical engineer, Chandan used to troubleshoot technical problems in the machines of hospitals. In such a situation, he used to earn a good amount of money.
Started creating pressure to get married
Now Chandan did not want to meet Poonam secretly, he had to marry Poonam, for this he asked Poonam several times to leave Sunil and marry Chandan. Poonam did not agree to this. One day Sunil saw the WhatsApp chat of Chandan and Poonam, he talked to both of them and instructed them to stay away.
Despite Sunil’s explanation, Chandan kept coming to his house to meet Poonam. Sunil felt that Chandan would not leave such Poonam, so he got himself transferred to Amethi in 2021. Chandan now started staying away from Poonam just to show off. Sunil felt that everything is fine now, but Sunil changed his rented house from here too and now he started living near Bhavani intersection.
Made a witness on Poonam’s request
Sunil bought 2 Biswa land in Amethi, in which he made Chandan a witness. Sunil did this on Poonam’s advice. Just then Chandan once again started coming to Sunil’s house. Now he kept pressurizing Poonam for marriage.
Sunil was keeping a watch on Poonam and Chandan, when he came to know about their increasing closeness again, he lodged a report on Poonam’s behalf in Rae Bareli police station. This day was 18th August, now the police caught Chandan and started interrogating him. Chandan consumed poison, apologized to the police and Sunil and said that now he will not go after Poonam again.
Chandan wanted results
After reaching the police station, Chandan now had to marry Poonam by any means. He loaded the pistol with bullets and reached Sunil’s house. First he spoke lovingly to both the daughters and also gave them money. Now Chandan told Poonam that he will not wait any longer, Poonam should go with him immediately and he will marry her. Poonam refused to go. In retaliation, Chandan shot Poonam twice, when Sunil moved towards him, he shot Sunil thrice. Seeing her father getting shot, the daughter ran towards Sunil crying and Chandan shot her too.
Another remaining daughter was also murdered by Chandan. Now Chandan wanted to shoot himself, but could not shoot himself and ran away from the spot. During police interrogation, information about the relationship between Chandan and Poonam came to light through a friend of Chandan. Now the police has arrested Chandan and he has confessed about the entire incident that happened that night.
CM Yogi Adityanath accepted all the demands
After this incident that happened with Sunil and his family, realizing the seriousness of the matter, he met his parents. CM Yogi Adityanath has announced to give a government job, 5 bighas of land and a house to a person in Sunil’s house.
