LPG Cylinder Expiry Date: In many areas of metros, domestic gas is being supplied to the kitchen through pipeline, which is called Piped Natural Gas (PNG). But even today, people in small towns and villages use gas cylinders (Liquified Petroleum Gas) for cooking. Most people keep two cylinders in their house so that whenever one cylinder is empty, the other cylinder can be used for cooking until it is refilled.

Whenever we buy any item, we definitely check its expiry date, but do you check the expiry date of the cylinder (Gas Cylinder Expiry Date) while buying it. It is very important to check this otherwise a small mistake can endanger life.

While buying a cylinder, keep some things in mind. Like check its seal and weight, check properly whether it is leaking or not and never forget to check its expiry date.

When you buy an LPG cylinder, its expiry date is written on it. The expiry date is written with English letters and numbers. You will see a number written with A, B, C or D on every cylinder. Like A-25, B-23 etc. You will see such a code with a combination of letters and numbers on every gas cylinder. Let us tell you that this code tells the expiry date of the cylinder. The English letters A, B, C and D represent the months of the year. Like-

A- January, February and March

B-April, May and June

C-July, August and September

D- October, November and December

The numbers written along with these letters indicate the year. For example, B-23 means that the cylinder can be used from April to June 2023. Similarly, if D-25 is seen on a cylinder, it means that it can be used from October to December 2025. Since the year 2023 has passed, it is obvious that the cylinder has also expired. So return such cylinder immediately and also inform the agency. 

When the delivery man comes to your house with the cylinder, try pulling the seal on the cylinder in front of him. If the seal is broken or damaged, it will come out even with a gentle pull. Do not buy a cylinder with a weak seal or no seal, otherwise even a slight gas leakage can cause a major accident in the house.

The gas agency gives all its delivery men a device to measure the weight of the cylinder. So whenever you take a new cylinder, get the cylinder weighed in front of you using that device. If the delivery man refuses to do so, then immediately inform the customer care of the agency and return the cylinder and apply for a new cylinder. This work may seem troublesome to you, but it is very important for the safety of your family and you.
