Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that LPG cylinders will be provided free of cost to the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujwala Yojana. The government said in a statement that Yogi's decision will benefit 2 crore families of the state as well as celebrate the festival.

What did CM Yogi say in the post?

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared a post on X and informed about Diwali free cylinder. On the occasion of Diwali, it has been decided to distribute free LPG cylinders to all the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujwala Yojana, CM Yogi wrote in his post.

The Chief Minister said that all the procedures related to this decision should be completed in time by the concerned authorities. In all cases, LPG cylinders should be available in all the beneficiaries' houses before Diwali.

When did Ujjwala Yojana start? Who benefits?

Pradhan Mantri Ujwala Yojana was launched in 2016. Under this scheme, free gas connections including gas cylinders and stoves will be provided to women from poor families. Apart from this, if the gas cylinder is refilled, the government will also give a subsidy. According to government data, 1.75 crore households in Uttar Pradesh have got free gas connections under the Ujjwala scheme.

The Uttar Pradesh government will provide a free gas cylinder facility to all these families before Diwali. Women residing in Uttar Pradesh who have not yet applied for the facilities under the Ujjwala Yojana can also get a free gas cylinder. This facility is applicable only to women under Ujjwala Yojana.

How to apply for the Ujjwala Yojana facility?

If you also want to get the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, first you need to visit the official website www.pmuy.gov.in. In this, you will see the application forms. These should be downloaded in your desired language.

You can also get this form from the ELPG centre. After this, take a printout of the form and fill in all the information. You have to submit the necessary documents along with the form at the nearest LPG centre. After document verification, you will get a free gas connection. Anyone eligible in the country can apply for it.
