Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday released the Bharatiya Janata Party’s manifesto for the Jharkhand Assembly Elections. The party has vowed to provide Rs 2,100 per month to every woman of the state if the BJP returns to power.
Key takeaways from the BJP manifesto:
- Among the top promises are LPG cylinders at Rs 500 for every household and 2 free cylinders annually.
- The party has also vowed to return the tribals’ land occupied by the infiltrators to the tribals.
- Children of infiltrators marrying tribals won’t get tribal status, the BJP said.
- The tribals will be kept out of the purview of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), the manifesto said.
- The party has also assured the students to take action against those responsible for paper leaks which has gripped the state in the recent past.
- It vowed to ensure 5 lakh opportunities for self-employment for youths in 5 years.
- The BJP promised to ensure the recruitment of 2,87,500 government positions with transparency. “For this, the process will begin in the first cabinet meeting and will complete the recruitment process on 1.5 lakh positions by November 2025," the manifesto said.
- An annual calendar for all examinations will be published, it highlighted.
What did Amit Shah say during the manifesto launch?
Amit Shah, who launched the manifesto in Ranchi, took on the Hemant Soren government over the infiltrators and said that the tribals of the state were unsafe under the current administration and that the BJP would stop the infiltration of Bangladeshis.
“During Hemant Soren’s government, the tribals of Jharkhand are not safe. The number of tribals in Santhal Pargana is continuously decreasing. Infiltrators are coming here and luring our daughters marrying them and occupying the land. If this is not stopped, then neither the culture of Jharkhand, nor the employment, land, or daughters here will be safe. That is why the BJP is moving ahead with the slogan of securing “Roti, Beti, Maati,"," he said.
“The Jharkhand government has crossed all limits of appeasement. In Lohardaga, Kanwariyas were attacked, Kirtan and Bhajans were banned in Ramnavami, stones were pelted during Ramnavami procession, temples were damaged in Sahibganj and Jamshedpur, “Hindu Jharkhand Chodo" slogans were raised. You should be ashamed. There will be such a rule of law here in which those who do such acts will be sent behind bars through the law, no one will dare to do such things…" Shah added.
The Home Minister emphasised that the Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in Jharkhand, however, also ensured that the Tribals will be kept out of the ambit of UCC.
Shah details the promises in the manifesto and said that the BJP government will provide two free cylinders to the people on the occasion of Diwali and Rakshabandhan.
“Under the ‘Gogo Didi scheme’, women will be given Rs 2100 every month. Free LPG gas cylinders will be given on Diwali and Rakshabandhan and the cylinders will be given for Rs 500. 5 lakh employment opportunities will be created for the youth of Jharkhand," he said.
The Home Minister took a strong stand against the paper leak mafia and said that the BJP government if formed, would hang the paper mafia “upside down".
“The paper leak mafia has ruined the future of the youth. Form a BJP government and we will hang the paper mafia upside down… A BJP government was formed in Assam and today infiltration has stopped in Assam," he said.
PM Modi hails BJP manifesto.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the BJP manifesto for the Jharkhand polls stating that it is dedicated to the development and empowerment of youths and women.
“Today we are among the people of Jharkhand with a new hope. Our manifesto is about development, employment for the youth and empowerment of the women of the state along with respect for the tribal brothers and sisters. We are committed to the protection of the roti, beti and maati here," PM Modi posted on X.
Jharkhand will go to Assembly polls in two phases on November 13 and 20. The votes in the Elections will be counted on November 23, along with those in Maharashtra where voters will cast vote on November 20 in a single phase.
