Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu launched the Deepam 2.0 program, aimed at empowering women by providing free gas cylinders. Additional schemes were also introduced during the program. Find more details below.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu launched the Deepam 2.0 program, which aims to empower women by giving them free gas cylinders, at Edupuram, Srikakulam district, on November 1.

In an effort to show support for the project, Naidu personally gave a gas cylinder to Santhamma, a recipient, during his visit. He also lighted her stove and made tea.

Free Gas Cylinder for Andhra Pradesh Women

Eligible women for this scheme will receive free cooking gas cylinders. Free gas cylinders will help ease the financial strain of traditional cooking methods on the women of the house. This program encourages the use of cleaner LPG fuel, improving health and safety in homes. Additionally, subsidies are offered to support the costs of getting and maintaining LPG connections and equipment.

Objective of Deepam 2.0 Program

Rs 15,000 to Girl Students 

Naidu, as part of his election promises, pledged Rs 1,500 per month to every woman in Andhra Pradesh. He also promised additional benefits, including three free gas cylinders each year and free bus travel for women on state-run RTC buses. Under the “Thalliki Vandhanam” program, Rs 15,000 would be provided annually to support school-going students. Naidu emphasized his dedication to securing a safe and promising future for the women of the state.

The Deepam 2.0 program is an expansion of the Deepam system that Naidu first presented.

Both the original Deepam scheme and the revised Deepam 2.0 plan benefited women like Santhamma, who are still supported by the program. Through better access to contemporary cooking solutions and a reduction in home tasks, it is anticipated to improve women's quality of life.
