If you are a job money person, whether you are a government employee or working in the private sector, then you are contributing to Provident Fund (PF) accounts. These accounts are an important part of the financial security system for employees, where a part of their monthly salary is deposited, if you also have an account, then you should be aware of the new update, let us know about it-
The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has recently issued a notification that will affect millions of PF account holders across the country. In this new directive, EPFO has announced that the Aadhaar card will no longer be valid as proof of date of birth.
Why is this happening?
The main reason for this change is the legal status of the Aadhaar card. The Aadhaar card issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) serves as a strong identity document, but it does not serve as a valid birth certificate.
Many people used to use their Aadhaar card to validate their date of birth in various official matters including EPFO. As per the new instructions from UIDAI, EPFO has now removed Aadhaar card from its list of authorized documents to verify the date of birth.
Birth Certificate
School Leaving Certificate or Marksheet
Other Government recognized documents that confirm date of birth.
If your Aadhaar card was previously used for this purpose, make sure to update your EPFO records with one of the approved documents to avoid any discrepancy or issue in the future.
