Although cooking with LPG gas can be done quickly, it has some disadvantages. Especially if it is not handled safely, there is a possibility of the cylinder exploding.
The gas-filled in an LPG cylinder is highly flammable. So, even if precautions are taken, there are high chances of accidents. There is a right to compensation for damages caused by such accidents at home. Customers can claim insurance up to Rs. 50 lakhs from their companies in case of an accident.
According to the government website MyLPG.in (http://mylpg.in), petroleum companies provide accident coverage to LPG-connected customers and their families. This insurance provides financial assistance of up to Rs. 50 lakhs to the affected family after accidents like gas leakage or explosion. There is a partnership between petroleum companies and insurance companies for this. The insurance company pays it when a claim is made.
This insurance is Rs. 10 lakhs for each member and Rs. 50 lakhs for the entire family. In case of property damage, you can claim up to Rs. 2 lakhs. In case of death, it is Rs. 50 lakhs. For personal accident, Rs. 6 lakhs. For treatment, a maximum of Rs. 30 lakhs. Members are provided with an insurance facility of Rs. 2 lakhs.
Rules: There are also some conditions to get this insurance. The first condition is that the cylinder pipes, stoves, and regulators should be those with ISI mark. For claims, you should check the cylinder and stove regularly. The customer should report the accident to his dealer or police station within 30 days of the accident.
At the time of claim, documents like FIR copy, medical receipt, hospital bill, postmortem report, and death certificate are required. All these documents should be attached. You cannot nominate anyone in this policy. Only the person in whose name the cylinder is registered will receive the insurance amount.
