SBI has warned about new fraud method
Various scams are coming out every day and most recently State Bank of India has warned its customers about a new scam. A new scam is coming to light where fraudsters impersonate Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or Income Tax Department officials and collect hefty fines in the name of bogus legal action.
This is the warning issued by SBI;
"Dear SBI customer, fraudsters may impersonate CBI or Income Tax department officials and threaten legal action or heavy fines to extort money from you. Beware of such scams,"
SBI has clarified what to do to avoid fraud.
● Verify Source: Always verify the identity of the caller or message sender. Official organizations usually do not ask for personal information over the phone, SMS or video call.
● Do not share personal information: Never share personal or financial information with someone who contacts you.
● Don't be intimidated by threats: If someone threatens you with legal action or fines, don't believe them completely. Legitimate organizations will not discuss such actions or fines over the phone.
● Inform the police if you feel suspicious:
● Use security features: Ensure two-step verification on your bank accounts and use a strong password
