A heart-wrenching case has come to light from Maharashtra. Here in Sindhudurg district, a man first killed a former Assistant Police Sub Inspector (ASI) after an argument and after committing the crime, he himself called the police and confessed to his crime. The deceased former policeman was a relative of the accused. The police have arrested the accused.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as 55-year-old former assistant sub-inspector of police Vinod Achrekar. Accused Siddhivinayak murdered Achrekar after an argument over some issue and then called the police and informed that he had committed the murder.
Giving information about the case on Thursday, a Sindhudurg police official told PTI that the incident came to light in the morning when the accused Siddhivinayak Pednekar (24) called the Sindhudurg police control room on their number 112 and informed that he had informed his relative. Has been murdered.
According to the police officer, the deceased Vinod Achrekar was working as an Assistant Sub-Inspector in Mumbai Police. A few years ago he had taken voluntary retirement (VRS). For the last few years, he was living in his native village Kolshiwarchi Wadi under Kankavali taluka of the coastal district, about 475 km from Mumbai.
The police officer said that on Wednesday evening, Achrekar had invited his relative Pednekar to his house for dinner, where he also drank alcohol. During dinner, there was a heated argument between Achrekar and his relative over some issue. He told that the argument escalated when Pednekar picked up a spade and attacked Achrekar, causing serious head injuries.
Police said that in the morning Pednekar himself informed the police about the murder, after which a team reached the spot and found Achrekar lying unconscious. He said that after medical examination the former policeman was declared dead. In this connection, a case of murder was registered at Kankavali police station and accused Pednekar was arrested.
