Shah Rukh Khan reprises his role as Dr Jehangir Khan from Dear Zindagi, and gives marriage counselling to Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt united for a special project, reprising their roles from their popular films Dear Zindagi, Gully Boy, and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, respectively. In the latest ad for Rungta TMT Bar, the trio can be seen discussing Ranbir-Alia’s marriage.
In the minute-long video, Shah Rukh Khan reprises his Dr Jehangir Khan avatar, and counsels Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor. He asks, “Bunny, Safeena, how’s your marriage going?” Alia Bhatt, in her Safeena avatar, says, “I will tell you. I asked this man to get some ice, he went to Ladakh. I asked him on call, ‘Why are you so busy?’, and he said, ‘Mountains are calling’.” She then recreated her iconic line from Zoya Akhtar’s film. She said, “Itna pahado ke sath gulu gulu karega toh thoptungi na isko“.
Ranbir chimed in, “Dr Jehangir, mai udna chahta hu, daudna chahta hu, bas iss ghar mein rukna nahi chahta (I can’t stay in this house).” A curious SRK asks, “But, why?” Ranbir complained, “The other day I climbed the roof to watch the sunset, it broke. I don’t feel safe.”
Alia Bhatt replied, “Who asked you to do rock climbing at home?” Stopping the argument between the couple, Shah Rukh said, “I have heard both of you, I have a solution for you.” Pulling a Rungta Steel TMT Bar from behind a wall, Shah Rukh quipped, “If you will use this to build your home, I can’t guarantee your marriage, but your home will never break.”
This is third such ad for Rungta TMT Bar this year. Previously, the trio reprised their roles of Rockstar, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and Raees. Another ad had them reprise their roles from their films Student of The Year, Barfi and Jawan.
Reacting to the latest ad, fans said, “This ad (Dr Jug-Safeena-Bunny) is better than the previous two (Jawan-Shanaya-Barfi and Raees-Gangu-Rockstar).” Another fan wrote, “Most entertaining ad.” Others joked, “I thought Shah Rukh is going to beat them with that rungta steel bar.”
On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are gearing up for their second feature film together, Love and War. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film will also star Vicky Kaushal in the lead role. On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for his film, King. The film, directed by Sujoy Ghosh, will also star his daughter, Suhana Khan.
