A man was kidnapped and killed in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar just four days after marrying a girl who was in love with her cousin, the police said.
The deceased was identified as Bhavik, who hailed from Ahmedabad and got wedded to Payal residing in Gandhinagar.
He was abducted and killed by three men, the police said.
How Did The Incident Take Place?
The police investigated the incident and discovered that Payal had plotted the murder of her new husband along with her cousin, identified as Kalpesh, who she loved before marriage, India Today reported.
Bhavik had gone to pick up Payal from her parents’ residence on Saturday, however, suspicion grew when he did not arrive on time. Payal’s father dialled Bhavik’s father to inquire about the delay, only to be told that the daughter’s husband had left the place long ago. After the conversation, Payal’s father started searching for him along with the family.
They ran into a two-wheeler seemingly belonging to Bhavik, which was lying on the road during their search.
According to the eyewitnesses, a man riding the bike was kidnapped by three men who hit the two-wheeler with their SUV from the rear, resulting in his fall. They then kidnapped him.
Family Approaches Police
The family rushed to the police and informed them about the incident. The police, after knowing that Bhavik was married just four days ago, grew suspicious. They inquired about Payal who later succumbed to the police pressure and confessed to having plotted the abduction and killing.
Based on information provided by Payal, the police tracked down and arrested the three accused individuals for questioning. During interrogation, Kalpesh confessed that he, along with two accomplices, had kidnapped Bhavik and strangled him to death inside his SUV. They later disposed of the body in the nearby Narmada Canal, India Today reported.
What Did The Police Say?
The police revealed that Payal had called Bhavik to know his exact location when he was on his way to her parents’ home. She then shared his location with Kalpesh.
Payal told the police that she loved Kalpesh, however, her parents got her married to Bhavik, after which she planned to set aside her husband by killing him. The police took her into custody and arrested the three men.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and kidnapping. Further investigations into the case are underway.
