Obnews Tech Desk: WhatsApp is preparing to introduce a new reverse image search feature soon. This feature will be especially useful in identifying misinformation and edited images. Earlier this feature was seen on Android beta version and now it is also being tested on WhatsApp Web Beta. This information has been shared by WABetaInfo.

How will reverse image search work?

1. Easy Process:

This feature will give the option to check the authenticity of the image with the help of Google. Users will not need to download images. A shortcut will be added to the WhatsApp web application to directly initiate a reverse image search.

2. User consent required:

When users choose to search for an image, WhatsApp will first upload the image to Google with their consent. After this the reverse image search process will start in the default browser. WhatsApp will not have access to the image content during this time. The entire process will be conducted by Google.

Recently WhatsApp has added the feature of document scanning to the iOS app. This new feature in the latest update (version 24.25.80) allows users to scan documents directly from the app.

How to use:

When you open the document-sharing menu, a “Scan” option will appear, which will activate the device's camera. After scanning the document, users can preview it and make adjustments manually. The app automatically detects margins, making the process even easier.
